Serengeti National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, spans 14,750 km² in northern Tanzania. Famous for the annual Great Migration of over 2 million wildebeest, zebra, and gazelle, it's home to the highest concentration of large mammals on Earth.
The Serengeti ecosystem supports all Big Five animals (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, black rhino) plus cheetah, hyena, giraffe, and over 500 bird species. Its name means "Endless Plains" in the Maasai language.

River crossings (Jun-Oct) are most dramatic but most crowded. Calving season (Jan-Mar) offers incredible predator action with fewer tourists.
