Carefully selected accommodations with family rooms, swimming pools, kid menus, and safe environments. Interconnected rooms available for most families.
Junior Ranger Program, cultural visits, animal tracking lessons, and conservation education. Learning is fun and interactive throughout the safari.
Our guides are trained in family dynamics, child engagement, and educational storytelling. They know how to keep kids interested and involved.
We welcome children of all ages, but our itinerary is specifically designed for children 5 years and older. Younger children (under 5) are welcome but may find the game drives long. We can customize the itinerary for families with toddlers or babies, including shorter drives and more lodge time. Most lodges can provide cribs and baby equipment with advance notice.
No, that's what makes our family safari special! Standard safaris have 6-8 hour game drives. Our family itinerary has shorter drives (maximum 3-4 hours) with frequent breaks. We also build in "down time" each afternoon for swimming, games, or rest. Our guides are experts at keeping children engaged with animal tracking games, quizzes, and educational activities during drives.
Safety is our top priority: 1) Private vehicles with child-safe features, 2) Lodges with fenced pools and safe environments, 3) Guides trained in first aid and child safety, 4) Flexible scheduling to avoid overtired children, 5) Healthy food options and bottled water always available, 6) Malaria prevention advice and medical support available. We also carry child-appropriate first aid supplies.
Our Junior Ranger Program includes: animal tracking lessons, bird identification, Maasai cultural exchange, conservation education, wildlife behavior explanations, and a certification ceremony. Children receive activity packs with safari journals, animal checklists, and educational materials. Guides explain wildlife in child-friendly terms and encourage questions throughout the journey.
Absolutely! We specialize in custom family safaris. Common customizations: adding more pool/lodge time, including specific child interests (birds, big cats, etc.), adjusting drive lengths, adding special experiences (hot air balloon, walking safari for older children), combining with beach time in Zanzibar, or extending for a longer vacation. We work with you to create the perfect family adventure.
Our flexible itinerary is designed precisely to prevent this! We build in options each day: if kids are tired, we can shorten drives and return to the lodge for pool time. Our guides carry engaging materials (animal cards, games, etc.) to maintain interest. The lodges have amenities (pools, games, sometimes kids' clubs) for afternoon entertainment. The key is flexibility, which is built into every day.
Our family safari specialists are ready to help you create unforgettable memories. We'll handle all logistics from airport pickup to educational activities. Contact us today for a free, no-obligation family consultation and detailed quote.
